Roger Ebert's Ebertfest film festival to continue despite critic's death
With less than two weeks to go before the 15th annual event is scheduled to commence, the official site now includes a statement confirming this year's event will still run April 17-21 in Champaign, Illinois, as planned:
"All of us at Ebertfest are very saddened by the news of our dear friend Roger's passing. He was a remarkable man who influenced journalists and film lovers the world over. The 15th annual Roger Ebert's Film Festival will take place as scheduled April 17-21."
This year's opening night film is Terrence Malick's 1978 classic "Days of Heaven." Additional entries that make up the Ebert-approved mix of older, underappreciated and yet-to-be-released titles include Sundance Film Festival breakout "The Spectacular Now" and buzzy cult curio "Escape from Tomorrow."
