Royal baby watch: Zara Phillips, Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter, also expecting
But that bundle of joy is not the only good news out of Buckingham Palace. Zara Phillips, granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth by her daughter, Princess Anne and Anne's ex-husband Mark Phillips, and her husband, rugby player Mike Tindall, have announced they are expecting a baby in early 2014. They are pictured above enjoying the 2013 Wimbledon finals.
But Prince William's and Zara's children are actually not the first and second great-grandchildren for Queen Elizabeth. Her grandson Peter, Princess Anne's eldest child and Zara's brother, has two daughters, Savannah and Isla, with his wife Autumn. None of Princess Anne's children or grandchildren have titles, however, because Mark Phillips turned down his earldom when he married Anne.
Not Prince William's offspring, though. The third in line to the British throne will be His/Her Royal Highness Prince/ess of Cambridge, as will any future children William and Kate have.
Do you suppose William and Kate's progeny will have a name like his or her cousins? A Princess Madison or Prince Jaden, perhaps? Not likely. The oddsmakers are giving short odds on the traditional names, like Alexandra, Charlotte, Diana, Elizabeth and Victoria if it's a girl, and George and James if it's a boy.
