RT-America anchor Liz Wahl quits on-air due to Russian policy

An anchor with the RT-America news channel resigned on-air over the Russian government's actions toward Ukraine and her network's coverage of those events. The video of Liz Wahl's quitting has since gone viral.

RT-America is a cable and Internet network funded by the Russian government and with a focus on Russian news and events. Meant for an American audience, the news is hosted by Americans like Wahl.

At least the news was hosted by Wahl, until she quit on Wednesday (March 5).

"Personally I cannot be a part of a network that whitewashes the actions of Putin," Wahl says of the Russian President. "I am proud to be an American and believe in disseminating the truth and that is why after this newscast, I'm resigning."

Wahl is the second RT-America anchor to express frustration with the network's treatment of Russia's intervention in Ukraine. Earlier in the week, anchor Abby Martin denounced the Russian actions. She did not, however, quit and currently remains in her position.
