Even though a poster released in November made it seem like Ryan Gosling was going to take a beating, the new red band trailer for "Only God Forgives" tells a whole other story. The movie has a different look than director Nicolas Winding Refn's last work, "Drive." This time out, Refn also wrote the film.
In the film, Gosling plays Julian, a man who runs a boxing club that serves as a front for his family's drug smuggling operation. When his brother is killed, his mother orders him to find the person who did it and take revenge.
Though the trailer is violent, it's also very artistic. The story is set, and was filmed, in Bangkok, Thailand and makes use of the city's colorful nightlife to create the visuals. "Only God Forgives" also stars Kristin Scott Thomas and will be in theaters July 19.
