Ryan Gosling recently announced he's taking a break from acting to work on his directing career. But a new report claims "The Place Beyond the Pines" star is the front runner to play paraplegic Olympian and accused murder, Oscar Pistorius in a biopic. If the rumor is true, Charlize Theron is also being lined up to play Pistorius' girlfriend and alleged murder victim. Reeva Steenkamp.
The Daily Mail claims there are two scripts in the running for the project and a major studio will be announcing the film soon. "You've got one of the world's most famous sportsmen under arrest and a beautiful young woman who meets a violent death," says the reported insider. "Scripts began doing the rounds within days of the scandal breaking."
Pistorius is accused of the Valentine's Day murder of Steenkamp at his apartment in South Africa. Steenkamp was shot four times inside a small bathroom, and some reports say her skull was crushed with a cricket bat. Pistorius maintains he mistook his girlfriend for an intruder.
While Theron has a very distant connection to the Pistorius story, being that she too is from South Africa, this report feels an awful lot like a rumor. What do you think? Would Gosling make a good Pistorius? And should Charlize play Steenkamp? Or are these alleged movie plans coming a little too soon in the wake of a tragedy?
