'Salem': Witches are everywhere in first look at WGN America's series
The first teaser for WGN America's first scripted series, "Salem," has hit the web, and it promises to rewrite the history of the Salem witch trials in a rather dramatic way.
The promo features voice-over from Seth Gabel's Cotton Mather, decrying the various crimes of accused witches in the Massachusetts town. The premise of "Salem" is that witches actually did exist there -- but they're not who or what they seem to be. The show will center on an "epic romance" amid the turmoil of the time and aims to deliver "a bold new vision of Salem -- and an even bolder new vision of witches."
In addition to Gabel, "Salem" stars Janet Montgomery ("Made in Jersey"), Shane West ("Nikita"), Ashley Madekwe ("Revenge") and Xander Berkeley ("The Mentalist"). "Star Trek" and "24" veteran Brannon Braga and Adam Simon ("The Haunting in Connecticut") created the show.
"Salem" is scheduled to premiere in the spring on WGN America (which, like Zap2it, is part of the Tribune Co.). What do you think of the teaser?
