Sammy Hagar says he was abducted by aliens: 'They were plugged into me'
In an interview with MTV Hive, Hagar -- who is promoting his new memoir, "Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock" -- talks candidly how big the band was during the Van Hagar era ( "There are some country artists that are that big, and maybe U2, but that's about it."), rock star sex (as advertised, there's a lot) and how "good looking" the band was.
All of which one should take into account when considering Hagar's claims that he's not only seen UFOs, but been abducted (kind of) by aliens:
"[Aliens] were plugged into me," says Hagar in the interview. "It was a download situation. This was long before computers or any kind of wireless. There weren't even wireless telephones. Looking back now, it was like, 'F***, they downloaded something into me!' Or they uploaded something from my brain, like an experiment. 'See what this guy knows.'"
We can only assume aliens are highly motivated by the prospect of learning the lyrics to "Right Now." The alien contact stories, it should be noted, did not make it into Hagar's book because his ghost writer (no, not that kind of ghost) talked him out of it.
But, luckily, in the interview Hagar goes on to recount what he believes was another encounter with extra terrestrials when he was just four years old:
"Another thing happened when I was about four that I didn't put into the book," he says. "One time I saw what I considered to be, well, at the time I thought it was a car with no wheels. We lived out in the country and I saw this thing floating across a field, creating this big dust storm. I threw rocks at it and shit. And I don't know what happened after that."
Could it have been a UFO, or was it perhaps a rusted out hulk of a car with, umm, no wheels?
Only Sammy knows for sure.
