In Sandra Bullock's next movie, "Gravity," she co-stars with George Clooney as an astronaut stranded in space. The big problem is, Bullock is definitely not an astronaut. In the movie, director Alfonso Cuaron strives for everything to be as realistic as possible, that means the actress needed a crash course in space travel technology.
Who better to ask than astronauts themselves? "I wanted to be really accurate," Bullock said during a press conference for the movie at Comic-Con 2013, "So we had a lot of incredible specialists ... There was also a couple of times I was able to call into space and ask them questions and they'd answer them. It was very helpful."
That's a pretty nice resource to have at your disposal. Sandra didn't disclose which astronauts she had to chance to speak with, noting it was up to them to release that information. However, she also got to followup her calls with them via email. "They were so excited about the vantage point that this film is taking," she says.
"Gravity" will be in theaters October 4.
