Sarah Palin not running for President

Tina Fey can go back on vacation, Bill Maher can sigh in relief, and Lenscrafters can box up all those rimless glasses -- Sarah Palin will not be running for President.

The oft-ridiculed sweetheart of the Republican party released a statement Wednesdsay (Oct. 5) stating that "[a]fter much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States."

Palin goes on to say that she believes "at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office." Palin then reiterates the battle-cries of the Republican party, stating her desire to "reduce tax burdens and onerous regulations that kill American industry [and to] minimize government to strengthen the economy and allow the private sector to create jobs."

And watch out, Obama, because Palin is planning to "help coordinate strategies to assist in replacing the President, re-taking the Senate, and maintaining the House."

It may have been the strain of all those tell-all books, or perhaps the grueling schedule of her reality show, but Sarah Palin shall not be seeking the Presidency. At least we'll always have this cover of Newsweek...
