Sarah Silverman has a message for the world about divas. Her music video for "Diva," part of the promotion for the comedian's "We Are Miracles" special on HBO, points out that the reality-show definition of a diva isn't correct. Those people have another name, one that is unprintable.

Warning: The language in this video is very NSFW. Seriously.

If you can recall that long-ago time before reality television dominated the airwaves, you may remember that "diva" used to be a term reserved for certain singers. Usually women, diva singers were women like Mariah Carey or Aretha Franklin -- stars who could belt out a tune in a way that made the rest of us swoon. Opera singers were divas. Huge stars claimed that title.

That's not the case anymore. These days, any woman with a lot of attitude is called a diva. It's like reality TV wants the world to see bad behavior as nothing more than the behavior of an over-dramatic woman.

Sarah Silverman has another name for that. As she puts it in song:

If you call yourself a diva
It better be for reals
And not some sad, pathetic kind of front.
If you're selfish and you're thoughtless
And you're broken and you're heartless
You're prob'ly not a Diva,
You're a c***.

It's a beautiful reminder of a profound truth we often forget when watching TV.
Silverman's "We Are Miracles" special airs Saturday (Nov. 23) at 10 p.m. on HBO.
