'Saturday Night Live': Justin Bieber tempts the Church Lady (and Andy Samberg)

justin-bieber-snl-church-ch.jpgThe first half-hour of "Saturday Night Live" on Feb. 5 had a distinctly retro vibe, as host Dana Carvey revisited old characters like "Wayne's World" sidekick Garth and the Church Lady.

You'd be forgiven for thinking it was 1991 -- but for the presence of one Justin Bieber. The pop star and relentless promoter appeared in a live sketch and a filmed piece on Saturday's show, including a visit to "Church Chat" with Carvey.

After the Church Lady dissed and dismissed the Kardashians ( Nasim Pedrad, Vanessa Bayer and Abby Elliott) and Snooki ( Bobby Moynihan), she welcomed the wholesome, harmless Bieber. Except: "I have to say seeing you in person has affected me in a way I didn't quite think it would, with your nice new haircut and your million-dollar smile," Church Lady says.

Bieber: "Are you OK, Church Lady?"

Church Lady: "Yes -- say my name. Say my name with your angel's voice ..."

As she's always done, though, Church Lady was able to regain her composure, and in the end she and Bieber danced the Superior Dance.

A few minutes later, Bieber appeared in a fake trailer for "The Roommate" with Andy Samberg. It's just like the movie in theaters now, except instead of being Justin's doppelganger Samberg was an obvious nutball with oversized glasses and a huge 'fro.

Here's the "Church Chat" video:
