'Scandal' and Britney Spears: The hidden connections

britney-spears-guillermo-diaz-scandal-youtube.jpgAt first glance, there wouldn't seem to be much linking ABC's "Scandal" and Britney Spears to one another, but upon further inspection, she's almost an honorary Gladiator.

No, we're not kidding.

The first time Spears crossed paths with a future Gladiator was in the early 2000s when Columbus Short (Harrison), then a professional dancer, began dancing backup for the legendary singer. Before embarking on his film and TV career, he was even credited with choreographing Spears' 2004 Onyx Hotel Tour, which was canceled during the second leg when she suffered the knee injury that sidelined her career for a handful of years.

Spears' second run in with a future Gladiator wouldn't happen until 2011, when Guillermo Diaz (Huck) appeared in the music video for "I Wanna Go" off of "Femme Fatale." In the video, he references an iconic moment from his mid-'90s film "Half Baked" while rescuing the pop star from cyborg paparazzi.

We'll just ask the obvious: How long until Spears pops up on ABC to seek Olivia Pope's help?
