'Scandal' casts 'Homeland's' Nazanin Boniadi in major arc: Who will she play?

"Homeland" actress Nazanin Boniadi has landed a recurring guest arc on the ABC thriller, THR reports. Beginning with the show's Feb. 27 return, the actress, best known for playing FBI analyst Fara Sherazi on Season 3 of the Showtime drama and Barney's (Neil Patrick Harris) ex Nora on "How I Met Your Mother," will have a heavy presence in the final eight episodes of the season.

Naturally, details on Boniadi's character are being fiercely guarded by creator Shonda Rhimes, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun speculating. How else are we going to spend our time until the show returns?

So, where might Boniadi fit in? She could be someone Liv ( Kerry Washington) and Fitz ( Tony Goldwyn) meet out on the campaign trail or someone involved in Jake's ( Scott Foley) new regime at B613, but we've got a sneaking suspicion that she'll be involved in Harrison's ( Columbus Short) impending terror with former employer Adnan Salif back in the country. Call it a superfan's intuition.

This being "Scandal," that prediction could be totally off -- or she could wind up being Adnan herself. One never knows. Who do you think Boniadi will play? Sound off in the comments below.

"Scandal" returns for the second half of Season 3 on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
