Former NBA star Scottie Pippen is a suspect in the investigation of an insult with the intent to commit great bodily injury. He was questioned Monday morning (June 24) by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department after a fight outside of Nobu, a Malibu, Cal. restaurant Sunday night, the Associated Press reports.

Department spokesman Steve Whitmore confirms that Pippen arrived at the sheriff's station voluntarily and was questioned. Investigators say Pippen and another man got in an argument, with the latter ending up in the hospital with a head injury. It's been reported in some places that Pippen has been arrested for the crime, but that is not the case.

Pippen retired from the Chicago Bulls in 2004, after playing with the team from 1987-1998 and 2003-2004. During his time with the Bulls, which was also highlighted by Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman, among others, Pippen helped the team win six NBA championships. In 2012 he was named senior adviser to the Bulls' president and COO.
