'Scrubs' to return for a 9th year? Didn't I mention this a month ago?
The network, the studio and executive producer Bill Lawrence are currently in talks to make it all happen, even though several of the series' cast members may not be able to return as regulars.
As sources told me several weeks ago, Zach Braff agreeing to appear in at least a third of the season's episodes is at the top of ABC's list of demands, while deals with Donald Faison (Turk), John C. McGinley (Dr. Cox) and Neil Flynn (The Janitor) -- who've all signed on to costar in other pilots -- will have to be hammered out as well.
Last year, when ABC picked "Scrubs" up for what was supposed to be its eighth and final year, ABC president Steve McPherson did indicate that he'd be willing to keep the series going with the new crop of interns Lawrence was bringing in, while having the old cast pop in and out. But with "Scrubs" ratings looking fairly modest this season, most critics didn't think it would happen.
However, insiders tell me that ABC -- which hasn't had a comedy to brag about in quite some time -- is quite pleased with the young, male demo that "Scrubs" continues to draw and that's why Sacred Heart could very well live to see another season.
And what about Nurse Korbi? Is she being paged? Pretty sure she's available.
I'm on 'Scrubs' this week!! (Elizabeth Banks & Scott Foley are too)
