"Secret Circle" star Chris Zylka has landed a key role in CBS's new thriller pilot, "Bloodline."

"Bloodline" is about a young orphan named Bird (Skyler Samuels) who is torn between two feuding families full of murderers and mercenaries. In order to break her curse, Bird must find and kill her own mother.

Zylka plays Troy, a man who was taken from his parents and into a life of battle. For most of his youth, he has been raised in the Spartan agoge, where he has been taught to withstand excruciating pain. While most of his fellow Spartans become emotionless shells, Troy has remained sensitive -- and he's got a strong connection to Bird.

The news was first reported by THR.

In other "Secret Circle" news, Britt Robertson and Phoebe Tonkin both begin work on their respective new projects this week. Robertson is filming CBS's "Under the Dome," a Stephen King series, in Wilmington, NC. The drama is set to premiere this summer. Tonkin just began shooting "The Originals," a backdoor pilot a "Vampire Diaries" spinoff featuring her werewolf character, Hayley.
