Seth Rogen slams Brett Ratner, Chris Brown on Oscars Eve; Ratner responds

seth-rogen-isa-2012-gi.jpgFor a brief time brash producer/director Brett Ratner was slated to run Sunday (Feb. 26) night's Academy Awards show, enticing his "Tower Heist" star, Eddie Murphy, to host.

But then in November he made an off-handed gay slur during a post-screening Q&A. Next thing we know, official apologies are being issued, Ratner and Murphy have dropped out and the Academy is running to make sure their show is in no way connected with anyone controversial.

Murphy's replacement host, Billy Crystal, refrained from making any Ratner jabs on Sunday. However, Independent Spirit Awards emcee Seth Rogen was not as polite the day before.

"The best thing to come of awards season is we learned what a horrible bigot Brett Ratner is," Rogen told out to the crowd, suggesting that the Grammys may have been a better gig for him. "At the Grammys, you can literally beat the s*** out of a nominee and be asked to perform twice."

Surprisingly a good sport about it, Ratner tweeted Rogen on Sunday, "Loved your jokes about me! Wish I was there to see the audience reaction" and later sent his best wishes to the Oscar producing team: Good luck @ BrianGrazer and Don Misher!! I'm so excited for u! I know its going to be the biggest Oscars yet!!" before heading out to the Vanity Fair Oscar bash.

Because in Hollywood you can still go to the party even if you didn't do the job.
