Snack-sized TV news just as soon as we can resist the urge to write the obvious "no shame in 'Shameless'" headline...

All of Showtime's new and returning Sunday lineup performed well on Jan. 9, but "Shameless" earns the distinction of being the network's highest rated drama debut in 7 years, with 982,000 viewers. "Dead Like Me" still holds the record with 1.11 million. [ THR]

MTV Networks announces the launch of a new award show (Hooray...?) set to take place March 26 and air April 10. The Comedy Awards will focus on the funny efforts in film, television and digital content. Public voting is already open. MTV plans to simulcast the show on Comedy Central, Spike TV, TV Land, VH1 and Nick At Nite. [ MTV]

"Big Bang Theory" doesn't just host guest stars, it produces them. Johnny Galecki will guest on the upcoming final season of "Entourage" as... a tougher version of himself. Oh, "Entourage."  [ E! Online]

"Firefly" fans will never stop trying, god bless them. A fan recently made a synopsis of the show ( akin to the "Avatar"/"Pocahontas" meme) that suggests it's basically the same show as "Mad Men." A bit of a stretch, but thanks for the laugh. [ FlickFilosopher]

On Jan. 3, "The Dr. Oz Show" premiered its second season and launched its "Move it and Lose it" 11-week weight loss challenge. The fans responded in droves with more than 430,000 people registering for the program online. [Sony Pictures Television]
