Shaun White 'truly sorry' for drunken hotel incident leading to arrest

shaun-white-mugshot-black-eye-nashville-police-department.jpgOlympic snowboarder Shaun White apologized on Tuesday (Sept. 18) via his Facebook page after reportedly getting drunk, trashing his hotel room, pulling fire alarms and getting into an altercation with hotel staff. White was arrested Monday for public intoxication and vandalism.

"I want to apologize for the unwise choices I made over the weekend and for any inconvenience it caused my family, friends, business partners, the hotel and their guests," he writes. "I was celebrating a happy occasion with a ton of family and friends and got carried away. I'm truly sorry for my poor behavior."

According to TMZ, Nashville police say a citizen tried to stop White from fleeing the scene on foot, but the gold medalist allegedly kicked the person and left. The individual then chased White before colliding with the snowboarder, causing him to fall backward and hit his head against a fence -- hence the black eye in his mugshot above.

White was treated for injuries at Baptist Hospital before being arrested and booked by police. He's due in court on Oct. 10.
