'Shedding for the Wedding': Sara Rue initially thought the log-sawing challenge was a dud

We sat down with Sara Rue on "The Rules of Engagement" set to talk about her recurring role as Brenda, Audrey ( Megyn Price) and Jeff's ( Patrick Warburton) surrogate. But, we also got a chance to talk about hosting The CW's "Shedding for the Wedding," in which engaged couples compete to lose weight and win prizes toward their wedding.

As the show's host, Rue's job includes introducing the couples' challenges with a certain amount of excitement. So, even when she doesn't think it's the coolest challenge, Rue is a professional.

"There is a log-sawing challenge," she tells Zap2it of Wednesday's (March 23) episode. "And I was like, 'really, this is the challenge, you guys?' I was really questioning the producers that day."

But in the end, Rue tells us that it actually makes for some quite good TV. "They get so mad at one another, all of them are so angry," she says amused.

It turns out the challenge is really difficult and Rue found that out firsthand when she had to show the couples how it was done.

"It was so hard, because it's really about teamwork," she explains. "And you see the couples who work really well together and you see the couples who really do not work well together and it's so funny."
