Sheldon Stephens revealed as the man who accused Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash of underage sex
The man who accused "Sesame Street's" Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash of having an illegal sexual relationship with him when he was only 16 years old might have recanted his story, but that doesn't mean the public was any less interested in knowing who he is. So it's time to meet Sheldon Stephens, an aspiring 24-year-old model and actor currently living in Pennsylvania.
It was The Smoking Gun who unveiled the accuser's true identity, and also learned about his criminal past. Stephens was reportedly arrested for robbing a music manager that he interned for at knifepoint for $250,000 worth of jewelry. The source who revealed that Stephens was the other person involved in this scandal says he "attracts these high-powered men" but is a "God-fearing guy" and "not just a pretty boy."
On Nov. 13, the law firm who was representing Stephens, Andreozzi & Associates, revealed that their client had recanted his claim that he and Clash had been in a sexual relationship seven years prior, when Stephens was only 16. "He wants it to be known that his sexual relationship with Mr. Clash was an adult, consensual relationship," the statement reads.
For his part, Clash said via a spokesperson, "I am relieved that this painful allegation has been put to rest. I will not discuss it further." Sounds like his leave of absence from "Sesame Street" is officially at an end.
