'Sherlock' and 'Downton Abbey' nominated for Television Critics Awards: See all the 2012 TCA nominees

benedict-cumberbatch-martin-freeman-sherlock.jpgThe Television Critics Awards are generally a good barometer for critical darlings (obviously), so it's no surprise that PBS's highly-buzzed about "Masterpiece" series "Downton Abbey" and "Sherlock" -- both British imports -- made the nominees list this year. "New Girl" and "Girls", as well as creator Lena Dunham, also appear for the first time.

That's not to say there weren't any surprises. While highly anticipated, "Smash" was certainly problematic as the season went on, and putting "Lost" up for a Heritage Award seems a bit premature to some.
