'Sherlock Holmes' sequel casts female lead; Sofia Coppola wins Venice Film Festival

Noomi Rapace has been cast as the female lead to star opposite Robert Downey Jr. in the "Sherlock Holmes" sequel. No word yet on whether the detective will notice her or be too busy with his Dr. Watson (Jude Law) bromance. [ Variety]

Sofia Coppola's "Somewhere," won the Golden Lion prize at the Venice film festival on Saturday, Sept. 11. The jury, which unanimously picked "Somewhere" out of all the movies shown at the festival, was led by Quentin Tarantino, who said he was "enchanted" by the film. [ Herald]
