'Sherlock' Season 3 still doesn't have a premiere date (but 'Call the Midwife' does)Add to Favorites | Sherlock
Which is not to say PBS isn't thinking about the show: "It's a subject of great interest, obviously, because ... it has a very passionate fan base" PBS president and CEO Paula Kerger said Tuesday (Aug. 6) at the TCA summer press tour.
Part of the holdup in setting a date has been the fact that the BBC, which airs the show in the U.K., hasn't set a premiere date either. There have been reports that it will air in the United States on the same day as its BBC premiere, but Kerger says nothing is set yet.
Given the other programming PBS has lined up for Sunday nights in the first half of 2014, a day-and-date broadcast for "Sherlock" could get a little complicated. As previously announced, Season 4 of "Downton Abbey" will premiere Jan. 5, and the spring will bring the third season of "Call the Midwife" and the second seasons of "Mr. Selfridge" (which was recently picked up) and "The Bletchley Circle," a mystery centered on female code-breakers in the U.K. in the 1950s.
