Sherri Shepherd announces Broadway 'Cinderella' role on 'The View'

sherri-shepherd-cinderella-broadway-gi.jpgSherri Shepherd is heading from talk shows to Broadway. "The View" co-host (at least until Aug. 7, when she will air her last episode) announced on the series that she will be starring alongside Keke Palmer in the new Broadway version of "Cinderella."

Palmer will make history as the first African American woman to portray Cinderella. Shepherd will play her evil step-mother, Madame. Palmer and Shepherd will kick off their performances on Sept. 9. This will be Shepherd's Broadway debut.

"I am so nervous and excited to announce my Broadway debut in Rodgers and Hammerstein's 'Cinderella.' I am playing Madame, the evil step-mother to Cinderella," Shepherd announces on "The View."
