Sigourney Weaver: 'I should be a sheriff in Alaska' more than Secretary of StateAdd to Favorites | The Daily Show With Jon Stewart
"As soon as I started reading the first page, I was so hooked on the character of Elaine and on the family of the Hammonds, who are inspired perhaps by the Clintons, but also by the Johnsons, also by the Kennedys, it's about this fascainating family who were in the White House, who were probably scarred by that experience in many ways, who, as dysfuncational as we are, are trying to get back in the White House," says Weaver.
She also marvels that they even came to her for the role, as if it's hard to imagine Sigourney Weaver as a well-spoken, beautiful, high-powered politico.
"This story sort of ambushed me ... why are they coming to me for this?" she laughs. "I should be a sheriff in Alaska, something with the Iditarod or something."
Uh huh. "Political Animals" airs Sunday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT on USA.
