Simon Cowell: 'I'm happy' about being a father, Lauren Silverman is 'adorable,' 'a great girl'
"X Factor" judge/mentor Simon Cowell has been making the rounds lately to promote the upcoming season of his reality singing competition show and naturally, a hot topic of discussion is his impending fatherhood, which he tells Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" was "a bit of a shock."
"I got used to the idea. Circumstances were a bit awkward, but, um," Cowell grins sheepishly. "But everything's fine now and I'm happy and she's adorable," he says, of his baby mama Lauren Silverman, who was the wife of a friend of Cowell's. That's how they met.
Above, he appears on "Ellen" during its Season 11 premiere week and he comments that he can't blame the media for jumping on a "juicy story."
"I obviously can't blame the media -- it was kind of what I call a juicy story. But there was a lot of stuff that was said about [Silverman], that she trapped me and that she's a gold digger. Absolute nonsense. She's a great girl, but like I said it was awkward because of the circumstances," says Cowell.
Host Ellen DeGeneres also teases him that it's for sure going to be a boy, but Cowell says we'll all "have to wait and see." But that doesn't stop Ellen from giving Cowell some Simonized baby clothes (pictured below).
