Simon Cowell talks baby names, One Direction on 'The X Factor' and more
"X Factor" mogul Simon Cowell sat down with "Extra's" Terri Seymour, who happens to be his ex-girlfriend, to talk about his upcoming bundle of a joy, a son due in early 2014.
When asked about names, Cowell sports his typical cheeky smirk and says, "My number one choice is Simon 'cause I like the name."
But Seymour, who is familiar with Cowell's family after having dated him for nearly six years, wonders if the name Eric is on the table -- it's Cowell's late father's first name.
"His birthday is going to be very close to my dad's birthday, so I think second choice would be Eric, yeah," says Cowell, adding that his dad would be "very proud" and "amazed" at the prospect of Simon's son.
Cowell also says that he's going to be a very chill parent.
"Be cool about it, don't worry about things too much," he says of his parenting style. "The way me and my brother were brought up, it was kind of relaxed. ... I want to teach him how to do my job as soon as possible, I want to pass the reins over. I really would like the idea of teaching him how to run the business."
As for perfomances on this year's "X Factor" on FOX, Cowell says he'd be open to having former judge Britney Spears back to perform and he's "love" to get Destiny's Child together, since former member Kelly Rowland is now a judge.
"We're definitely gonna do One Direction on the show," he adds.
"The X Factor" airs Wednesday and Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
