'Sleepy Hollow,' 'Agents of SHIELD' and 'The Blacklist' are early-season DVR champions

shield-week-2-dvr-rtgs.jpgEpisode 2 of "The Blacklist," which had already set a DVR ratings record for three days of playback, is now the most-DVR'd episode of a network series in history.

The Live +7 ratings from Nielsen for the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6 show "The Blacklist" gaining 6.5 million viewers, growing from 11.35 million viewers in the overnight ratings to 17.86 million with a week of DVR playback. It's the first time a show has ever added more than 6 million viewers via DVR use. Through its first two episodes, the NBC drama is averaging a gain of about 6.1 million viewers. It's also adding 1.9 points in the adults 18-49 ratings (growing from 3.6 to 5.5).

"The Blacklist" is one of three freshman series -- FOX's "Sleepy Hollow" and ABC's "Agents of SHIELD" are the others -- ranking in the Top 5 of the Live +7 ratings in both viewers and adults 18-49 over the season's first two weeks. CBS' comedy "The Crazy Ones" is also a big mover, ranking 12th in viewers added and tying for ninth in adults 18-49.

At the other end of the spectrum, the premieres of "We Are Men" and "Welcome to the Family" in the second week of the season got very little lift from DVR use. Both shows' overnight ratings were pretty weak relative to their respective network averages, and it's pretty clear audiences weren't discovering them a few days later.

Below are the DVR ratings through week 2 of the 2013-14 season for all the new broadcast-network shows. "Sleepy Hollow" and some other FOX shows premiered a week before the official start of the season, so those numbers aren't reflected here. "Sleepy" grew by about 5.2 million viewers and 2.3 points in the 18-49 demo for its series debut, slightly higher than the averages below.

Numbers in parentheses are a show's overall rank in the Live +7 table. Shows with a * next to their titles have since been canceled.
