'Smallville': Tom Welling, Erica Durance, and Allison Mack talk finale
"Smallville" returns on April 15 with its final six hours -- concluding with a two-hour series finale event on May 13. The cast spoke with TV Guide about all of those burning fan questions -- will he fly, will he wear the suit, will he be called "Superman," will he marry Lois.
Of course, they didn't actually answer the questions. That would be way too easy. "This show, to me, has always been about Clark Kent -- it hasn't been about Superman," Welling says. "And it was very important at the end that we make sure that we wrap up the Clark Kent story."
The series creators, Al Gough and Miles Millar, who are no longer creatively involved, say that in their initial plan, they wanted to see Clark suit up. "The last scene of the last episode was always going to be Clark putting on the suit and flying off into his destiny," Gough says. "And my guess is that, when we all see the finale, it will be some version of that."
Mum's the word about that wedding, though. "The timing between the two of them has never been easy," executive producer Souders says. "And there are definitely some ups and downs to be had before the end."
TV Guide even spoke with fan favorite Allison Mack about Chloe and her decision to return for one last episode. "She ends in a very healthy and levelheaded way," Mack says. "I think that the writers have respected my character for such a long time, and she goes out with the same affection she came in with."
