TV Line first reported on Thursday (June 13) that Hilty was returning to the network to work alongside Sean Hayes, who had a multi-episode arc on the second season of "Smash," acting opposite Hilty's Ivy throughout.

In the new comedy, Hilty will play Liz, best friend and colleague to Hayes' main character, a single, gay dad figuring out how to balance raising his teenage daughter and his temperamental new boss. Hilty is replacing Lindsay Sloane, who played the character in the show's pilot.

"Sean Saves the World" will air Thursdays at 9 p.m. on NBC this fall.
