'SNL' spoofs 'Girls' in spot-on sketch, gets Lena Dunham praise
During the Season 39 premiere of "Saturday Night Live" on Saturday (Sept. 28), the long-running series took on HBO's "Girls" in one of their pre-taped bits, and the impressions of the characters couldn't have been more perfect.
New featured player Noel Wells took on Lena Dunham's Hannah with an eerie precision in the faux promo, while Cecily Strong, Kate McKinnon and Vanessa Bayer played Marnie, Jessa and Soshanna, respectively. Oh, and did we mention the new girl? Blerta, from Albania?
Host Tina Fey scored the biggest laughs as Hannah's new roommate who didn't really understand any of the hipster nonsense going on around her. Also, she has O.C.D. too. Only, hers is Old Cow Disease, "where old cow bites you and disease infects the skin. Is why I have rubber hand."
After the spoof aired, "Mindy Project" star Mindy Kaling posted a photo of Dunham watching the sketch on her couch on Twitter, writing, "Original Girl enjoying Blerta on #snl's Girls at my house." Dunham herself tweeted out some praise for the sketch, saying, "The 'SNL' parody of 'Girls' was a true honor."
Take a look at the clip above and let us know if you think the parody was pitch perfect?
