'So You Think You Can Dance' Season 11: Choreographers praise the Top 20
Zap2it caught up with Stacey Tookey, Louis Van Amstel, Travis Wall and Bonnie Story after the performances. It's safe to say that all of the choreographers are impressed with what they have seen.
Story: "I think they did amazing! They really jumped in. All the dancers tonight really came and really jumped off a cliff. They were all nervous and they overcame it. And Stanley and Bridget did an incredible job of just grabbing the story and not worrying so much about steps but what it was about. So that made me really happy ... There are 20 amazing dancers. Bottom line. It is going to be tough!"
Scott: "I've worked with Emilio over and over again. I've worked with him on a bunch of different things ... So when he got the show it was really exciting. I knew him, so it was like, 'Emilio! Flip off the stage!' I knew what he could do. With Teddy, it was a discovery, this discovery process that we had to go through. He was very shy at the beginning ... And then he relaxed. He was like, 'I'm here. I made it.' He just started showing who he is. It really came through tonight."
Van Amstel: "This is the Top 20. This is the first time these kids go live. They have gone through a grueling week of competition, and people get cut every day. Now it's live. These kids, they know millions are watching. They are so nervous -- all of them! All of them this afternoon, we all crossed our fingers as choreographers. And then they come out and they do more than we ever expected. It is just amazing."
Tookey: "It's always a roller coaster, the first week especially. They work so hard to get here, and then sometimes they freak out. They're like, 'Oh my gosh! I'm on So You Think!' They did that a bit, and I thought for a second that it could go one of two ways. And tonight they really, they pulled up, they grounded themselves, they grounded each other, and they did a really beautiful job."
Wall: "It was great. They have a lot of technical ability, which was amazing. What I had to really work with was the connection between the two of them. They were both beautiful soloists, so it was really trying to find a way to mesh them together and for it to be believable, for here and for the audience back home."
"So You Think You Can Dance" Season 11 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
