'So You Think You Can Dance' Season 11 interviews: Christina Applegate, Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and Cat Deeley
All of the judges agree that Los Angeles really brought its A-game to the auditions in 2014. That's an important thing after 11 years of competition. "Many have got it that they actually have to do something different. Because we are into Season 11 now, we kind of have seen it," Deeley explains. "That kind of craziness -- I think you kind of need that to differentiate yourself from the other people sitting there."
That's exactly what the judges get in L.A. As Lythgoe says, "I don't think I've ever been so thrilled with a morning ever. Ever! Because normally we do this on the first day and everyone asks us how's it going and we always answer, 'Well, we haven't seen enough yet.' I can tell you that the three -- because we had one couple -- the three performances [on morning 1] that we've had have been sensational. Absolutely sensational!"
Murphy concurs: "We got off to such a great start and sent so many people through, whereas some cities, we were very stingy with our tickets, to be honest with you."
This isn't to say that "no" answers don't come to L.A.'s dancers too. Applegate in particular is looking for an undefined and hard-to-achieve level in her favorite performances.
Does Applegate find those moments in Los Angeles? Find out with the "SYTYCD" Season 11 L.A. auditions on Wednesday, June 4 and Wednesday, June 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
