Late last month, "So You Think You Can Dance" executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe announced big changes coming to his dance series in its upcoming seventh season.
Not only were just 10 -- instead of the usual 20 -- finalists chosen in Vegas this past Saturday (April 17), but each of those 10 finalists will be paired with a different "SYTYCD" alum each week of the competition.
spoke with Mr. Lythgoe in Vegas, where he revealed that half of the aforementioned changes were made because he was feeling a little tired of the same old song and, well, you know where this is going.
"I got a bit bored last season," Nigel says in the clip below. "We were doing two seasons back to back, I sort of knew what was going to happen before it happened and I thought, well if I feel like that, the public is going to feel like that. And this [new game plan] allows us to reinvest back into our talent that we've had [on the show previously]. It's going to give the ten contestants that we've got this year a really good step up because they're going to be working with people that can do that genre of dance. And the choreographers, hopefully, are going to be inspired by the coupling. And, fingers crossed, we're going to have a very, very strong season."

Also, he's looking pretty cute in his sport coat and jeans, which I just had to bring to his attention, so there's that too...
