Marilyn Manson is heading to "Sons of Anarchy" for Season 7 as a recurring cast member. It's been hinted at for quite a while by showrunner Kurt Sutter, but FX made the addition official Thursday (May 29) with a press release.
Manson will play Ron Tully, a "white supremacist prison shot-caller who Jax uses to expand his power base." This is interesting for a few reasons, the chief of which is whether or not Jax will be in prison with Manson's character.
At the close of Season 6, Jax was preparing to turn himself in to the authorities to save both Tara and the club. However, with Tara's death anything is possible. Did Jax end up serving time? If so, it makes sense he'd want a measure of power inside, even if only for protection.
If he didn't go to jail, then you've got to wonder why Jax needs someone there as an ally. There are no other club members locked up that we know of, so something bigger may be at play.
For Manson, the new role is important for a very special reason. "'Sons' has been such a big part of my life, as well as my father's," he says in the release. "So I was determined to make him proud by being involved in what will probably be remembered as the most amazing piece of television cinema. After all, the very heart of 'SOA' is about that relationship. So, now all I need is a motorcycle
There's only one season left of "Sons of Anarchy," and it comes in September to FX.
