Spanish-language 'Gossip Girl' and (maybe) 'Breaking Bad' in the works at UnivisionAdd to Favorites | Gossip Girl
Both shows, to be called "Gossip Girl Acapulco" and "Metastasis," are slated to air on UniMas (fomerly TeleFutura), Univision's young adult-focused newtork. Warner Bros. is on board with the "Gossip Girl" adaptation, but Sony, which produces "Breaking Bad," was taken aback by the "Metastasis" announcement.
According to The Wrap, Sony had produced a Spanish version of "Breaking Bad" internally that it was planning to present to broadcasters in Latin America. It has not, however, made any kind of deal with Univision, or even decided whether it wants to go forward with the concept.
"It's not in development with them or anything like that," a Sony source tells the site.
Whether Univision's apparently premature announcement affects the status of the project remains to be seen. Univision has its upfront presentation Tuesday (May 14).
