'SpongeBob 2' to begin filming in Georgia, will star Antonio Banderas
The newest "SpongeBob SquarePants" movie is going to be heading under the sea in Georgia. "SpongeBob 2" is slated to film in Savannah and on Tybee Island in the coming weeks, the Associated Press reports.
Perhaps more exciting is Antonio Banderas' involvement in the film. He will reportedly play a pirate in the upcoming Nickelodeon film, which is a sequel to the first "SpongeBob SquarePants" movie from 2004.
Filming is slated to begin on Tybee on Sept. 30 and in Savannah on Oct. 9. The flick has a reported release date of Feb. 13, 2015; more than a decade after its predecessor's release. Season 10 of "SpongeBob SquarePants" is expected to premiere in 2014.
