SpongeBob SquarePants detained after L.A. street fight

SpongeBob-SquarePants.jpgIt's been a tough week to be SpongeBob SquarePants.

On Sept. 12, a study in the Journal of Pediatrics found the cartoon can have adverse effects on the memory and attention skills of children. And now, a man dressed as the lovable character from the bottom of the sea gets detained by police following a Los Angeles street fight.

The skirmish happened Tuesday (Sept. 13) directly in front of the famed Grauman's Chinese Theater along the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In video obtained by TMZ, it appears that Mr. SquarePants is attempting to entertain two female passerbys, when something goes wrong. Fisticuffs ensued and the cops arrived. The pugilists were detained but subsequently released as no one wanted to press charges.

This part of Hollywood is popular among celebrity impersonators who pose for photos in exchange for tips.

Here's video of the fight...
