'Stan Lee's Mighty 7: Beginnings' Mayim Bialik had a lot of fun recording with Armie Hammer
Bialik plays Lady Lightning, a superhero with super speed who is part of a group of aliens Stan Lee uses as his inspiration for a comic book series. Bialik tells Zap2it that it was a fun project to work on because she wasn't alone in a studio recording her part, as is the practice with a lot of animated series and movies.
"Armie [Hammer, who plays Strong Arm] and I did our parts together, it was really fun," says Bialik. "It makes a big difference to have another actor to record with. Certain lines you can do as cold readings without any feedback, but it makes a difference to have someone. It can also be pretty tedious to be alone in a booth, so it was fun to have someone to bounce things off of. I was really happy that it was him and me."
Another fun aspect of recording voiceovers is the relaxed nature of going to work, plus exercising a different form of acting. "You don't have to have any hair and make-up, you can go in your pajamas, so that's really nice," says Bialik with a laugh. "But it's a different kind of acting. You need to express more, obviously, vocally, because there are no facial characteristics that can go along with it, at least that I'm making, so it's up to the animators to make that match. It's not the same as having a human face doing that, so it's an extra consideration when you're acting."
And what about a sly joke on "The Big Bang Theory," since those guys are into superheroes and comic books? "I don't know if that'll happen, I'll keep my fingers crossed," says Bialik, laughing.
"Stan Lee's Mighty 7: Beginnings" is out on DVD and Blu-ray Tuesday (April 15).
