gwyneth-paltrow-su2c-gi.jpgAfter a year away, "Stand Up to Cancer" will be back on TV in September.

The hour-long fund-raising event for cancer research will air on ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC, along with more than two dozen cable channels, on Friday, Sept. 5. Several Canadian channels will also air the event.

Veteran live-show producer Joel Gallen and Gwyneth Paltrow are executive producing the special.

"Cancer profoundly touched my life when I lost my father to the disease 12 years ago, and Stand Up to Cancer gives me a powerful platform to fight for a cause that I'm passionate about," Paltrow says. "I am thrilled to join Joel Gallen to executive produce the Stand Up to Cancer telecast again this year, and honored to continue standing up in my father's memory."

SU2C has raised $261 million for cancer research to date. Celebrities taking part in the special will be announced throughout the summer, but it's a good bet "Modern Family" star Jesse Tyler Ferguson will be involved, since he helped break the news via Instagram.
