There's a rumor floating around the internet that there may be a "Star Trek" project in the works with Netflix. It all stems from an appearance at Phoenix Comicon by "Star Trek" author and producer Larry Nemecek.

It's been reported that he claimed Netflix and CBS, which holds the TV rights to "Star Trek," are in talks for a new series to air on the streaming service. Unfortunately for "Star Trek" fans, it's just not true. Nemecek used his own blog to clear up any confusion.

He points out that with Netflix's dive into original programming, it would make sense for them to look for familiar franchises to add to their lineup. "As I understand it, there have been overtures," he says. "But none taken. So far." It turns out it was just a case of someone hearing him talk getting a little too excited.

Luckily, fans still have the "Star Trek" movies to keep them entertained. Who knows, maybe one day Netflix will get to launch the next chapter in the long-running franchise?
