'Star Wars: Episode VII' casting breakdown reveals new characters, two female teen leads

jj-abrams-star-wars-episode-vii.jpgWe're still a ways off from knowing much about the characters in "Star Wars: Episode VII" and how they will or won't be related to the franchise's beloved existing characters, but a new casting breakdown reveals the most information yet about what we can expect.

Bleeding Cool landed the details and casting is officially underway in the UK, where director JJ Abrams expects to start production on the film in early 2014 from a script by Michael Arndt. It's scheduled to hit theaters in 2015.

There's been considerable speculation that the latest "Star Wars" saga may focus on a young female lead, and the character breakdowns seem to back that up, while also including key roles for men of various ages.

  • Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit.

  • Young twenty-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking.

  • A late twentysomething male, fit, handsome and confident.

  • Seventy-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanour. Also doesn't need to be particularly fit.

  • A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit.

  • Forty something male, fit, military type.

  • Thirtysomething male, intellectual type. Apparently doesn't need to be fit.
