Setting the scene:
What's great about Storm Chasers is that we are guaranteed copious amount of wind and rain every week. So in order to do this party right, you're going to need to turn the garage into Tornado Alley and the living room into the inside of the TVN Dominator (even though watching the Dominator frat boy team say "bro" so often makes one kind of root for the storm). Empty out the garage and connect two oscillating lawn sprinklers to your garden hose, and turn it on full blast. Then have three high-speed commercial-grade fans to blow that water all over the place. Whether you choose to open your garage door will depend largely on the quality of your wet/dry vacuum. You'll then need to install a couple remote webcams that you've waterproofed and have them dialed up on a few computers and your TV in the living room. Be sure to also have other computer screens tuned to national Doppler. Then send "teams" into "Tornado Garage" to experience the sheer delight of awful weather! It'll be fun to watch people in there from the safety of the living room. Be sure to have plenty of towels at the ready!
You might want to offer rain slickers, boots, hats, umbrellas, goggles and other snorkel attire or suggest guests bring a change of clothing.
On the menu:
When the storm hits and knocks out your local Piggly Wiggly supermarket, you'll need to be prepared so stock up on canned food and serve warm, hearty fare such as Campbell's Chunky soups, rice and beef jerky. Beverages: Hurricanes, Tornadoes and hot cocoa.
On the hi-fi:
I Wish It Would Rain by The Temptations, Stormy Weather by Lena Horne, Walking in the Rain by the Ronettes, Have You Ever Seen the Rain? by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Ridin' the Storm Out by REO Speedwagon.
Yes, creating your own weather in the garage is fun, but it might behoove you to know what is happening outside. So why not install a Davis Instruments 6163-WiFi Plus VantagePro2 to your roof? You'll finally know the barometric pressure, wind speed and temperature without waiting for your weatherman!
