Super Bowl will stream online for the first time
The league and NBC will offer a live stream of Super Bowl XLVI on Feb. 5, marking the first time that fans can watch the game (legally) on the Internet via NFL.com and NBCSports.com. Subscribers to the NFL Mobile app on Verizon can also get the game streamed on their phones. NBC's coverage of the wild-card playoff games on Jan. 7 and the Pro Bowl on Jan. 29 will also stream live online.
NBC has offered live online coverage of its regular-season games since 2008, but this is the league's first foray into streaming of post-season contests.
As it does with regular-season games, NBC will offer additional camera angles, DVR controls and other goodies for people watching its postseason coverage online. And since like a million other sites post the Super Bowl commercials as they air, you might not even need to turn on a TV set on game day. NBC would probably prefer it if you did both, though.
