Supergirl TV series in the works from 'Arrow's' Greg Berlanti

Deadline reports the DC Comics character will be the center of a new TV show to be produced by "Arrow" and "The Flash" co-creator and executive producer Greg Berlanti.

The series, currently being developed by Warner Bros. TV, is being described as a fresh take on the character of Supergirl a.k.a. Kara Zor-El and her story. Berlanti will executive producer with Ali Adler, who he worked with on ABC's canceled superhero drama, "No Ordinary Family." Adler will pen the script for the potential new tale. No actors are mentioned as being currently attached.

Female-centric superhero shows are looking to be the trend in the coming year, with Marvel's "Agent Carter" coming to ABC and the "Jessica Jones" series in pre-production for Netflix -- and perhaps there is still hope for "Wonder Woman" to be reinvented for current TV.

What do you think about Supergirl? Is she strong enough to carry a show of her very own?
