'Supernatural' Season 10: The CW will try another spinoff
"We believe there's a real brand in 'Supernatural,'" network head Mark Pedowitz tells reporters Thursday (May 15). "We had six really good pilots this year. We felt that ['Bloodlines'] just didn't quite get there."
The would-be spinoff, about a young cop/hunter (Lucien Laviscount) and five monster families who run Chicago's underworld, Mafia-style, didn't win over too many fans of the original show when it was introduced in an April episode. But it did pull in solid ratings, and since Supernatural" as a whole had a ratings upswing this season, Pedowitz says he wants to try again.
"I've already spoken to the creator and the studio, and they know we want to develop once more for next season a 'Supernatural' spinoff," he says. "What it is and what it isn't still is up in the air -- that'll be discussed come June and July," when the show's writers start breaking stories for Season 10.
