Surviving Monkees won't attend Davy Jones funeral
Micky Dolenz tells Billboard, "My understanding is they [Jones' family] want to avoid a media circus and... the family wants to keep it very, very low-key and very, very private...And you can imagine as soon as one or two or any of us were to show up, it would very quickly be degraded into something that I don't think his immediate family would want to deal with."
Jones' spokesperson Helen Kensick has said that there will be public memorials for The Monkee both in New York and in England in the coming days. For that Dolenz, Peter Tork and Mike Nesmith may attend. Dolenz says, "It's pretty early days, you know, to be making too many plans. I'm still in shock."
Jones died of a heart attack on Feb. 29 at age 66. He is survived by his wife and four daughters.
