Susan Boyle's No. 1 'Dream' realized

susanboyle_britainsgottalent_02_290.jpgSusan Boyle has taught a whole new generation how to dream: Finish as the runner-up on a reality show and find big success afterward. Just ask Clay Aiken.

The Scottish singer's debut record "I Dreamed a Dream" hit No. 1 on the British album chart Sunday, reports Reuters.  Can the U.S. be far behind?

The album sold more than 410,000 copies since it dropped Nov. 23, the largest first-week sales for a debut album in UK chart history, supplanting the Arctic Monkeys and Leona Lewis.

Wow, was it only in April that the 48-year-old stunned the "Britain's Got Talent" audience, judges and eventually the world (thanks to YouTube) with her vocal chops, singing the Les Miserables song "I Dreamed a Dream"?

Boyle's biggest U.S. competition will be another runner-up -- Adam Lambert and his "For Your Entertainment."
