Meredith Baxter, who played Michael J. Fox's mother on "Family Ties," is headed to "Switched at Birth," where she'll be playing the mother-in-law of Lea Thompson, who played Michael J. Fox's mother in the "Back to the Future" trilogy.

If you're confused, you obviously need to brush up on your '80s pop culture references, because Michael J. Fox is always relevant.

TV Guide reports that Baxter will guest star on ABC Family's surprise hit "Switched at Birth" after the show's January 2012 return. Her character, Bonnie Tamblyn Dixon, comes in for a family visit... but given the current topsy-turvy nature of said family, it's no shock that tension arises, big time.
